Vicky and Bogey, Nov 2011, photo by Dawn GarnerNovember 2011 - Bogey and I just returned from another excellent 6-day clinic with Karen Rohlf. My goals for this clinic included improving/developing our connection in all gaits, improving the canter, and improving the lateral movements. Bogey and I made great progress in all three areas. I feel equipped, thanks to Karen, to continue progress in these areas over the winter. I was reviewing my notes and thought I'd share some thoughts, with the hope that they might be helpful to others.

Key to excellent dressage, no secret to many riders, is to develop and maintain harmony and unity with the horse during all movements. Karen is totally dedicated to this, and you will see her philosophy reflected in my notes below.

Far from the snowy winter of a few months ago, this summer has been (by North Carolina standards) brutally hot.  No matter, this morning was a lovely 72 degrees and just beautiful.
